Nordik Log Homes
After over 20 years of working with log homes and log home manufacturers being a dealer for Nordik Log Homes is the most enjoyable venture we have had the opportunity to be a part of and we are very proud to be a part of it. Shauneen and I have built many log homes of different styles and from different manufacturers. We have been involved in all facets of the construction process as well as all levels of frustration and/or disappointment. We are currently finishing our own Nordik log home. The owners of Nordik Log Homes are the most pleasant individuals to deal with and by far have the highest level of quality. After our 20 years in the log home industry we are convinced and you will be too that Nordik will give you more value for your dollar than any other manufacturer. is our home completed in the log yard of Nordik Log Homes in Prince George, B.C. ready for
shipment to our jobsite.

I am installing windows. All window and door openings have a "keyway" to
place a 2x4 in on edge to attach the window or door buck to which allows the
logs to settle without affecting the window or it's location or placement. Then,
the windows are attached to the buck per manufacturers specifications. Note the
space above the window which is filled with insulation. This space allows for
log settling again without affecting the window or door.
Here is a shot right after the log shell has been re-erected on site. Here is a good shot of the keyways noted in the explanation above. Also note the angled portion of the logs just outside and inside the door. This allows for trimming of the doors and windows. Some of the electrical wiring can be run behind the buck in the door keyway.
With the log walls up and in place we are placing the purlins with the ridge pole already in place. All purlins and ridge poles use a mortise and tenon joint both top and bottom to insure a perfect fit. Purlins and ridge poles are also cut to to your roof pitch.
Getting closer to completion our home now has the metal Snap Loc roofing in place. Note how the porch truss stands out as a focal point of the entrance to the home. Also a Nordik trademark is their flared log ends on the log walls.
